A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) and Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) to form a strategic partnership in developing the city of Kuala Lumpur to be a “City for All”, during a simple ceremony held at Menara DBKL 1, on 5 April 2022.
Through this collaborative effort, MRT Corp and DBKL are committed in ensuring the sustainability and prosperity of the city of Kuala Lumpur. The MoU reaffirms the long-standing partnership between the two entities, with the shared goal of providing efficient and environmentally-friendly mobility for the people of Kuala Lumpur.
Present during the ceremony to sign the MoU was the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur Datuk Seri Hj. Mahadi Che Ngah on behalf of DBKL, while MRT Corp Chief Executive Officer Datuk Mohd Zarif Hashim signed on behalf of the company.
Witnessing the signing ceremony was Minister of Federal Territories Dato’ Seri Dr. Shahidan Kassim.
In its role as the Kuala Lumpur city planner, DBKL has developed the Draft Kuala Lumpur Structure Plan 2040 (Draft PSKL2040), which includes the 20-year future plan in strategically developing the city of Kuala Lumpur.
MRT Corp in its mandate in developing the MRT3 project, is committed in supporting DBKL towards achieving the “City for All” vision for Kuala Lumpur, through the push for a significant shift in the usage of public transport in Kuala Lumpur as aspired in the Draft PSKL2040.
