The inaugural Rail Technology Expo (RTX) 2022, the first rail technology exhibition by the Ministry of Transport, was held from 11 – 14 August 2022, strategically at KL Sentral. RTX 2022 was organised with the aim of increasing the capacity and capabilities of local rail-related companies while encouraging the public to optimise public transport.
Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp), as the asset and project owner of the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit (KVMRT) Project and the RTS Link Project between Singapore and Johor Bahru had participated in the four-day exhibition which included a career fair, to further promote the current projects by the Company, while supporting the Ministry’s aspirations.
The exhibition was officially launched on 11 August 2022 by the Minister of Transport YB Datuk Seri Ir Dr Wee Ka Siong, with the Secretary General to the Ministry of Transport Datuk Isham Ishak in attendance. Also present on behalf of MRT Corp was Chief Executive Officer Datuk Mohd Zarif Hashim.
Held in collaboration with the National Rail Centre of Excellence (NRCOE), Malaysia Rail Industry Corporation (MARIC) and Technology Depository Agency (TDA), the exhibition saw participation from 55 companies comprising of local and international companies, including various Government agencies and Higher Learning Institutions.
Aside from participating in the exhibition, MRT Corp organised a forum entitled “Charting the Course for the MRT3 Circle Line Project”. Hosted by MRT3 Head of E&M Systems Ir Ridzuan Wahab and moderated by MRT3 Civil Construction Director Mr. Alexander William Terry, the session welcomed Mr. Winston Chan from Jacob’s Engineering Group who presented on the topic “Modelling Ridership and the Emerging Technology”, while Ir. Lawrence Yeap and Ir. Ts. Sri Viknesh Permalu from ARUP Consulting presented on the topics “MRT3 Circle Line Alignment” and “MRT3 Circle Line Train Operation Strategy” respectively.
The three presenters have been involved in the study for the MRT3 Project, and are part of the consultancy firms appointed by MRT Corp.
MRT Corp was also one of the 12 companies that had participated in the Career Fair Carnival which took place on the third day of the exhibition, which provided an opportunity for members of the public to explore their options with the company.
The exhibition was indeed a success as many firms have expressed interest in participating in projects under MRT Corp, while members of the public had the opportunity to directly enquire on career opportunities with MRT Corp as well as getting to know the MRT3 Circle Line better.
