KAJANG LINE
The first line implemented under the Klang Valley MRT Project is the 46km-long MRT Kajang Line.
The line begins from Kwasa Damansara, located to the north-west of Kuala Lumpur, and runs through the city-centre of Malaysia’s capital city before ending in Kajang, a fast-developing town to the south-east of the city.
The line runs underground for a distance of 9.5km beneath the centre of Kuala Lumpur while the rest of the alignment is elevated. The line has 29 stations, of which seven are underground.
Two stations that were previously under the Kajang Line have been migrated to the Putrajaya Line, which are Sungai Buloh MRT Station and Kampung Selamat MRT Station.
Kwasa Damansara MRT Station is now the terminal station for both Kajang and Putrajaya Lines. This was part of the planned design for the Klang Valley MRT Project, to reduce the dependency on and alleviate the traffic at Sungai Buloh MRT station, which integrates with the Sungai Buloh KTM Station.
Passengers can also conveniently switch between the Kajang and Putrajaya Lines at Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) Station, the second interchange for both lines.
Phase One of the Kajang Line, which begins from Sungai Buloh to Semantan had commenced operations on 16 December 2016, while the rest of the alignment was fully operational beginning 17 July 2017.
Each train set serving the line have four cars, allowing a total capacity of 1,200 passengers.
