SIX young public transport enthusiasts had the time of their lives when they got the chance to see for themselves how the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang (SBK) Line is operated.
As members of the Young Land Public Transportion Supporters group organized by the Suruhanjaya Pengangkutan Awam Darat (SPAD) six of them – Muhammad Ashraff Adnan, 20; Muhammad Adam Zikry Md Zamran, 17; Razim Mansor, 22; Amirur Rashid Noor Zahid, 17; Ho Yee Tatt Adison, 17 and Aliff Mohd Rafik, 16 – got a ride on the MRT as well as were brought to the Operations Control Centre (OCC) and the Rolling Stock Maintenance Office (RSMO) in the Sungai Buloh Depot on 22 March 2017.
The programme was a part of a tour organized by the SPAD for selected young people who are very interested in the transportation industry.
These public transportation enthusiasts, took a ride on the MRT train from the Pusat Bandar Damansara MRT Station to the Kwasa Damansara MRT Station.
Throughout the journey, Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) Director of Strategic Communications and Stakeholder Relations Dato’ Najmuddin Abdullah gave the young supporters first hand insights on the interesting traits of the railway tracks as well as the MRT trains itself.
From the Kwasa Damansara MRT Station, the group were brought to the OCC on an MRT feeder bus where the eager Young LPT Supporters were briefed by MRT SBK Line Head of Rail Maintenance Encik Ramli Safie on how the automatic train operations systems worked as well as the safety features of the system.
They were then taken to the RSMO by MRT SBK Line Head of Heavy Maintenance Encik Mohamad Fikri Mokhy where they saw how the trains underwent maintenance.
At the end of the tour, the Young LPT Supporters posed for a group picture before taking a ride back to the Pusat Bandar Damansara MRT Station.
