Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) hosted 25 University students and lecturers from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) to the Cochrane Underground station on 2 June 2016.

Led by UiTM, Structural Material Senior Lecturer Encik Mohd Hisbany Mohd Hashim, the delegation was part of the International Conference on Concrete Engineering and Technology 2016 (CONCET 2016). This conference was held for 3 days and the visit to the MRT underground station was part of their programme.

The visit began with MRT Corp Deputy General Manager, Strategic Communications and Stakeholder Relations, Mr Leong Shen-Li, giving an introduction and briefing about the project to Encik Hisbany and his fellow lecturers and students.

MMC Gamuda KVMRT (T) Sdn Bhd, Tunnel Manager, Mr Derek Eng took over the floor and explained the tunnelling works that had to be done for the Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line (SBK Line). The geographical map view and challenges that were faced for the SBK Line were also shared.

After the presentations, the delegation was given a tour of the Cochrane station, one of the seven underground stations of the SBK Line.

The tour was led by MMC Gamuda Plant Engineer Mr Thomas Chin and MMC Gamuda Senior Safety Supervisor (Cochrane Underground) Mr Karunagaran Subramanin.

The visit ended with lunch being served.
