25 delegates from UDA Holdings Berhad (UDA) Special Project Division visited the Bandar Malaysia MRT Information Centre on 17 October 2019.
The objectives of the visit were to understand the impact to property value along the MRT alignment and stations, to have a closer look at the technology used in the MRT Project especially the underground tunneling works by the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM), the technology of the MRT train as well as the total of ridership benefiting from the reduced traffic congestion due to the MRT Project.
The visit began with a welcome remark by Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) Strategic Communications and Stakeholder Relations Junior Executive, Encik Maharezan Mahadzir.
A presentation by MRT Corp Property General Manager, Encik Mohd Nasri Mohamad Nor followed. He briefed on the MRT Project and daily ridership forecast of the Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP) Line as well as the highway impact of the Project. Mohd Nasri also shared the study on mobility options, the challenges to public transport usage and the plan to increase people mobility. He ended his presentation with the Linear City concept.
The next topic presented was on underground and tunneling works, given by MRT Corp Underground Tunnel Senior Project Manager I, Mr. Alexander William Terry. He provided the overall tunnel progress, various geological formations along the SSP Line and information about the TBM which included the types, overview, excavation and monitoring.
The final talk was delivered by MRT Corp Electrical and Mechanical System Project Engineer Encik Muhammad Raimi Mohd Radzi. He explained on the SSP Line electric trains by sharing the technical specifications, current progress, the fully automated train control system and the intelligent safety features.
A virtual reality showcase was organised for the visitors where they had the opportunity to experience a walkthrough of the MRT station.
The visit ended with a group photograph and a presentation of a token of appreciation from MRT Corp to UDA.
