THE Public Inspection exercise for the MRT Sungai Buloh – Serdang – Putrajaya Line (SSP Line) began on 15 May 2015 with booths displaying information about the next MRT line opening at the offices of Suruhanjaya Pengangkutan Awam Darat (SPAD) and Majlis Perbandaran Sepang.
Four days later on 19 May 2015, another three booths opened at the Quill City Mall, The Mines and Majlis Perbandaran Selayang.
In total, the SSP Line Public Inspection Roadshow will see booths opened in 24 locations including local councils, shopping malls, community halls and a hospital, to reach as many people as possible for them to learn about the SSP Line and provide feedback during the Public Inspection period between 15 May 2015 and 17 August 2015.
The booths contain information boards, bound volumes containing the plan and profile of the line, station locations, feeder bus catchment areas and drawings of roads which are going to be realigned due to the project.
There are also videos about the SSP Alignment and on how feedback can be provided, as well as a “Hawkeye” interactive application where a 360 degree aerial view of the entire alignment can be viewed.
The booths are manned by Information Officers from MRT Corp and its Project Delivery Partner (PDP), MMC-Gamuda KVMRT (PDP SSP) Sdn Bhd, as well as Research Officers from Acorn Marketing and Research Consultants (M) Sdn Bhd, the agency collecting the feedback data for MRT Corp.
MRT Corp Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Sri Shahril Mokhtar visited the booth at Quill City Mall at 21 May 2015 and was encouraged with the good response to the Public Inspection.
“We have received more than 650 feedbacks within one week of the Public Inspection for the SSP Line. Many more people had visited the booths. This is very encouraging and I would like to thank members of the public for this good response,” he said.
“I hope more people will come and visit the booth at one of these 24 locations to learn more about the SSP Line and give their views and feedback on the Project. Your feedback is important to us as it will enable us to develop an MRT line which caters to your needs,” he said.
The Public Inspection exercise is a requirement under Section 84 of the Land Public Transport Act 2010. Under the Act, MRT Corp is required to deposit plans, sections and a book of reference related to the SSP Line with the Suruhanjaya Pengangkutan Awam Darat (SPAD). SPAD then displays these documents for members of the public to inspect.
