TO help increase awareness of the second phase of the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang (SBK) Line opening on 17 July 2017, Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) had organised the “Spot the MRT Train” and “Catch the MRT Cruiser” campaign from 30 May 2017- 20 June 2017.
The campaign comprises of a photography contest and also giving out merchandises to individuals who had managed to catch the MRT Cruiser. This cruiser was driven around for 12 days and ventured to 12 different stations along the southern alignment and the underground section of the SBK Line.
A prize giving ceremony was held on 9 August 2017 at the MRT Information Centre, Seri Kembangan to celebrate the achievements of the participants.
For the photography contest, participants were required to take a photo of the MRT train undergoing test runs along the southern alignment of the SBK Line. They were then needed to upload it onto their Instagram page, with #SpotTheMRT and tag @MRTMalaysia to enter the competition.
The competition had received close to 80 eligible entries. The top three winners would take home a GoPro Hero5 Black 4K Ultra HD Camera, Ricoh Theta Camera and DJI Osmo Mobile.
The winner for the photography competition was Encik Muhammad Imran Zikri. Imran, aged 17, managed to take home a GoPro Hero5 Black 4K Ultra HD camera.
An aspiring videographer from SMK Seksyen 10 Kota Damansara, Imran said “I am proud to take home this camera as the champion. A lot of time and effort was taken into taking this photo. It took me 2 hours to finally get the photo that I had envisioned.”
With regard to the “Spot the MRT Cruiser”, people around the southern and underground alignment engaged through the campaign by sharing places of interest around the various stations by commenting on the MRT Malaysia Facebook page. Limited edition MRT Touch ‘N Go’s and MRT merchandises such as umbrellas, t-shirts, notebooks and puzzles were given out to them.
This campaign that attracted close to 1,000 participants had also a lucky draw that enabled the participants to win 5 vouchers from Giant valued at RM200 each.
Commenting during the prize giving ceremony, Strategic Communications Stakeholder Relations General Manager Mr Leong Shen-Li said that the success of the campaign proves the public are aware of the MRT service. These individuals contributed in the success of the SBK Line.
