Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) hosted a visit by the Smart Cities 2015 Conference delegates to the Sungai Buloh Depot on 10 September 2015.
The depot was the location for one of the conference’s technical visits.
The delegates, comprising 15 people, were from Thailand, Japan and Malaysia, and were mostly public administrators, urban planners and engineers.
The visit began at the KVMRT Training Centre next to the Sungai Buloh Depot in Sungai Buloh, where an introduction to the Klang Valley MRT Project was given to the delegates by MRT Corp Deputy General Manager of Strategic Communications and Public Relations Mr Leong Shen-Li.
Besides talking about the Project structure and the two MRT lines which were being developed by MRT Corp – the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line and the MRT Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya Line, Leong also gave an update on the construction progress.
After the briefing, MRT Corp Director for Mechanical and Electrical Systems Mr Tarenjit Singh Khella (who is better known as Tom) took over the floor and led the delegation to the depot. A safety briefing was given by MMC Gamuda KVMRT (PDP) Sdn Bhd Work Train Safety Operation Manager Encik Mr Johari Yusoff, who also led the walkabout at the depot.
Both Tom and Johari answered questions from the delegates throughout the visit.
The highlight of the visit was when the delegates were brought into one of the completed MRT trains. While Tom explained the features of the train, the delegates tried out the chairs and took time to look at various parts of train.
After the visit, the delegates returned to the training centre where they returned their safety gears before proceeding to their next technical site visit location.
