A half-day visit to the MRT Ampang Park Station site was organised for PLANMalaysia (Federal Department of Town and Country Planning) by Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) on 5 March 2019.
The visit was a follow-up to the knowledge sharing seminar held in January 2019 on the tunnelling and construction of the MRT underground stations. Both visit and seminar were part of PLANMalaysia’s Research and Development Division preparation for ‘Stratum Development Guidelines and Case Study ‘, which was to guide local authorities, developers and stakeholders in underground development.
The delegation of 19 employees and consultants was led by PLANMalaysia Director of Research and Development Division, Dato’ Dr Zainah Ibrahim.
A presentation on the MRT Project was delivered to the delegates by MRT Corp Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya Line Underground Station Project Manager II, Megat Suwardi Said. He shared the MRT Ampang Park Station details such as the layouts and sections as well as geological profile. The station construction work progress was also mentioned together with its key risks and challenges.
The visitors then took a tour of the site, even going down to the lower concourse level of the station, in order to gain better insights on the underground development for the preparation of their case study.
The visit ended with an exchange of gifts followed by lunch being served at the site office.
