Malaysia Rapid Transit System Sdn Bhd (MRTS) held an induction and briefing session for the MRTS Young Entrepreneur Program (MYEP-RTS) on 13 February 2023, at the JB Sentral Meeting Room, Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Corp Johor Bahru Office.

The MYEP-RTS program is a strategic collaboration agreement between MRTS, Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), and Johor Center for Construction Development (JCCD), in developing young Bumiputera entrepreneurs in the construction industry.

A total of 11 participants were successfully selected to participate in this program out of 32 applicants.

The induction and briefing session began with a speech from the MRTS representative Director of Authority Liaison & Stakeholders, Mr. Redzelan Mohamed, followed by a speech by Johor State CIDB Director, Mr. Annis Othman, and a speech by the Chief Executive Officer of JCCD Mr. Nor Syazlan Abd Razak.

The participants were then briefed on the RTS Link Johor Bahru-Singapore Project and the MyEP Program inclusive courses, training, and modules that shall complete within 6 months. For the first 3 months, they will undergo theoretical and practical training at the Akademi Binaan Malaysia (ABM) Southern Region, Johor Bahru for courses such as motivation and self-esteem, financial management, project supervision as well as skills and competencies such as brick application, laying and tiling. Meanwhile, the next 3 months will see the participants undergo On-the-Job Training at the construction site of the RTS Link Project.

The briefing session continued at ABM, where participants were given further information about the learning modules throughout the study period as well as the disclosure of the course and training locations that will be conducted. The participants were also given information regarding the provision of a dormitory as one of the facilities provided.

This program is expected to produce participants who are skilled in technical and business fields, empowering human capital. This training can provide exposure to project implementation and business experience to provide a conducive opportunity for participants to become successful contractors.
