Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) had a courtesy visit to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Headquarters in Putrajaya on 20 October 2016.
The MACC is very encouraged by the efforts taken by MRT Corp by introducing integrity culture and good corporate governance for the Project.
This message was conveyed by newly appointed MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad.
MRT Corp Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Sri Shahril Mokhtar said that he is very encouraged by MACC’s nod of approval for the efforts MRT Corp have taken to ensure a good level of integrity in the handling of the multi-billion-ringgit Project.
Shahril mentioned that “MACC has welcomed our efforts to prevent corruption within the organisation and they will provide their upmost support towards us in maintaining good corporate governance.”
Shahril led the delegation from MRT Corp that comprised of Chief Integrity Officer Dato’ Zainal Adam, Project Director for the Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP) Line Dato’ Amiruddin Ma’aris, Commercial and Land Management Director Dato’ Haris Fadzilah Hassan.
Besides Dzulkifli, the MRT Corp delegation met with MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Operations) Director Datuk Azam Baki; Inspection and Consultancy Director Dato’ Mohamad Yusoff Akope; Policy, Planning & Research Division Director Encik Idris Zaharudin; Agency Integrity Management Division Director Puan Junipah Wandi and Strategic Communication Division Director Encik Ismajuri Ismail.
Among MRT Corp’s initiatives which were highlighted were the signing of the Corporate Integrity Pledge in 2012, setting up of the Integrity Unit in 2015 headed by Zainal who is an MACC officer seconded to MRT Corp, and the good administration of the procurement process which was set up for the MRT Project.
Since the setting up of the Integrity Unit, MRT Corp has introduced eight policies to boost integrity including: Whistleblower Policy, No-Gift Policy, Asset Declaration Policy, Support Request Policy, Charitable Donations Policy, Suppliers Code of Conduct, Anti-Fraud and Corruption Policy and the Integrity Pact for Vendors.
At the end of the visit, Shahril presented Dzulkifli with a plaque, memento thanking the MACC Chief Commissioner and his team.
