Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation (MRT Corp) participated in the first ever Integrity Cup to be held.
The Integrity Cup, held as an exhibition football match to kick off the Suruhanjaya Pencegah Rasuah Malaysia’s (SPRM) E-League Putrajaya 2016, was the brain child of MRT Corp Chief Integrity Officer Dato’ Zainal Adam while the trophy for the game was sponsored by MRT Corp Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Sri Shahril Mokthar.
The match was held at Padang Pancarona, Putrajaya on 26 February 2016.
Despite MRT Corp leading the game by scoring first, the opponent, comprised of selected players from various different organisations that work hand in hand with SPRM, ultimately proved too strong and defeated MRT Corp with a score of 1-3.
The match was divided into three periods. The first period saw a hot contest between the two teams, with MRT Corp managing to hold their ground against SPRM.
MRT Corp took the lead by a cool conversion of a penalty kick.
However, SPRM quickly hit back after a deflected free kick went into the goal, to even the score.
The third and final period, saw SPRM dominate and convert their chances, managing to score two goals in quick succession to make the game end at a score line of 3-1.
The E-League is primarily for law enforces and comprises teams from various organisations that work together with SPRM. The league acts as a platform to strengthen the relationship between corporations and enforcement officers across Malaysia.
MRT Corp Commercial and Land Management Director Dato’ Haris Fadzilah Hassan, who attended the match, said even though MRT Corp lost, he was happy with the overall performance.
“In the first two periods, the teams were relatively the same but in the third period, clearly the opponent was fitter,” he said.
Although the cup went to the SPRM team, medals were also given out to MRT Corp players.
