SIXTEEN delegates from the Changhua County Government, Taiwan visited the Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) Corporate Headquarters on 19 October 2017.
The delegates visited the MRT Project as part of their tour of Malaysia and Singapore to further understand the way railway projects are being built and managed in the region.
Previously, they had been to Land Transport Authority, Singapore to gain knowledge on the public transportation services offered by our neighbouring country.
MRT Sungai Buloh – Serdang – Putrajaya (SSP) Line Planning and Design Director Er Poh Seng Tiok welcomed the delegates and gave an overview about the organisation structure of MRT Corp. Here, he reiterated that MRT Corp is the project owner not only for the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang (SBK) Line and SSP Lines but also the upcoming Circle Line.
As the project owner of the projects, Poh also explained that the organisation can only generate revenue from six avenues being: retail, advertising, multi-storey park and ride services, property, commercial telecommunication and new technology and events.
MRT SBK Line Senior Project Manager I Mr Peoter Lapinski then took over by explaining about the fare structure that the MRT service abided by. He mentioned that Prasarana Malaysia Berhad had created several structures to suit the different needs of rail users.
In addition to that, the delegates were given information about the paid-to-paid interchanges that the service provided. This was of high interest to them.
The visit ended with a return trip train ride from Semantan to Cochrane stations.
