Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) and the Malaysia Space Agency (MYSA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in a closed ceremony on 16 May 2023, held at MRT Corp Corporate Headquarters in Bukit Damansara.
The MoU will see the two parties collaborate in the research & development (R&D) of technology to facilitate and strengthen the planning, management, and monitoring of the Railway Protection Zone (RPZ), slopes, and potential flood areas along the Transit Line to protect MRT Corp assets.
This will be jointly carried out through the development of an application and database operation system – based on remote sensing technology and other relevant technologies, including Geographical Information System (GIS), and Information Communication Technology (ICT).
Signing the MoU on behalf of MRT Corp was its Chief Executive Officer Datuk Mohd Zarif Hashim, while Director General Gs. Haji Azlikamil Napiah signed for MYSA.
MYSA, as the leading agency under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) for the digitalisation initiative, has collaborated with various other industries to support the monitoring, planning, development and management of operations.
In this strategic collaboration, MYSA will provide training on the use of the Application System and technical support services, including facilities and other technical requirements for training to be carried out. Together, both parties will develop an Application System for monitoring MRT assets.
Speaking at the ceremony, Zarif said the strategic collaboration between Government Ministries is important in order to optimise its shared resources, all for the betterment of the rakyat.
