IN further supporting the Government’s Bumiputera Agenda, Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) together with Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) formed a collaboration focusing on entrepreneurship, education and investment for Bumiputera retailers at MRT stations.
The two parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to seal the collaboration recently at MRT Corp’s Headquarters. The signatories to the MoU were MRT Corp Chief Executive Office Dato’ Sri Shahril Mokhtar and MARA Director General Datuk Ibrahim Ahmad.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dato’ Sri Shahril said the programme will assist qualified Bumiputera entrepreneurs through business development training as well as financial support in establishing themselves while competing with strong brands in the market.
Datuk Ibrahim meanwhile said this programme would act as a platform for Bumiputera entrepreneurs to participate in MRT ‘s retail programme.
“It is well known that retail outlets in MRT stations will be lucrative businesses and we want to assist Bumiputera entrepreneurs to be able to play an active part to enable them to become successful businesses,” he said.
He said the collaboration would cover education and training programmes at MARA Education Institution (IPMa) which is tailored to the needs of the MRT industry, allowing the program to produce competitive human capital that is in line with industry needs.
Witnessing the signing were MARA Council Secretary Encik Fazli Rizal Ismail, MARA Deputy Director General (Management Services) Encik Azhar Abdul Manaf, MRT Corp Director of Commercial and Land Management Dato’ Haris Fadzilah Hassan, and Commercial and Land Management (Retails & MSPR Unit) Manager Encik Mohd Faizal Yusof, Manager.
