A KNOWLEDGE sharing session was held by Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) for the Construction and Maintenance Division of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) on 4 December 2019.

Thirty-three members from MARA visited the Bandar Malaysia North (BMN) MRT Station construction site to attend the session with the aim of gaining exposure on underground tunneling and elevated construction as well as to acquire knowledge on safety awareness and contract dispute, as practiced in the MRT Project.

Held at Bandar Malaysia MRT Information Centre, the session began with a welcome remark by MRT Corp Elevated Construction Director, Encik Noor Saidi Musa followed by his presentation on the progress and top risks at elevated station site of the MRT Sungai Buloh – Serdang – Putrajaya (SSP) Line and also the station profiles.

The next presentation was on underground tunneling, which was delivered by MRT Corp Underground Tunnel Senior Project Manager I, Mr. Alexander William Terry. His presentation covered the MRT SSP Line underground tunnel progress, an overview of the tunneling techniques and technology used, the Tunnel Boring Machine, as well as underground station layout and sections.

The visit continued with a presentation on the contract dispute by MRT Corp Contract Management General Manager, Sr. Azita Mohamed Tahir. Her presentation touched on the pre and post contract measures, the resources, strategies of communication and external factors.

MRT Corp Centralised Labour Quarters (CLQ), Health, Environment, Safety and Security Manager, Encik Muhammad Nor Hadi Kasah was the next presenter. He talked about the safety requirements by MRT Corp, strategies, CLQ, KVMRT Training Centre and Safety Health and Environment (SHE) site implementation as well as related mobile application and software which were used in monitoring SHE at MRT Corp construction sites.

A safety briefing was given by MMC Gamuda KVMRT (T) Sdn Bhd Assistant Safety Manager, Encik Norazhar Abd Rahman before the MARA entourage proceeded to the BMN MRT Station construction site, where they had the opportunity to visit the viewing deck platform.

The session ended with a presentation of a token of appreciation from MARA Construction and Maintenance Division Director, Encik Mohd Ridhwan Abdul Yazid to Encik Noor Saidi, which was followed by a group photo.
