THE Member of Parliament for Batu, YB P. Prabakaran, made a visit to the Mass Rapid Transit Information Centre (MIC) Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah on 21 August 2018 for a briefing session on the progress of the MRT Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP) Line in particular about his constituency which covers both the V203 work package and the underground section of the MRT SSP Line.
The session began with opening remarks given by Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) Strategic Communications and Stakeholder Relations Director Dato’ Najmuddin Abdullah.
MMC-Gamuda KVMRT (PDP SSP) Sdn Bhd Public Relations and Stakeholder Management Senior Manager Encik Mohar Zainal Abidin then provided information about the elevated section of the project. MMC-Gamuda KVMRT (T) Sdn Bhd (MGKT) Public Relations and Stakeholder Management Manager Mr Steven Austin then presented about the underground section of the project.
Amongst the topics discussed was traffic management where the current and future plans for road diversions were deliberated. MRT Corp, MMC-Gamuda and MGKT informed Prabakaran that mitigation measures have been taken to reduce the impact of construction activities to the public.
The MP also shared his concerns on traffic management, road conditions and other public-related inconveniences which MRT Corp, MMC-Gamuda and MGKT are working together closely in ensuring that these concerns are being managed.
During the session, Prabakaran also enquired on any corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities carried out in the area. MMC-Gamuda explained that the CSR works done would usually involve stakeholders affected by the MRT Project and gave a few examples of CSR done with schools such as SK Kampung Batu and SMK (P) Jalan Ipoh.
The session ended with an afternoon tea to all attendees.
