A PROJECT progress briefing session for the MRT Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP) Line was organised for several Members of Parliament (MP), State Assemblymen (ADUN) and Local Councillors on 23 May 2017 by Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) and MMC-Gamuda KVMRT (PDP SSP) Sdn Bhd, the Project Delivery Partner for the project.
Those who attended were Mr Chua Tian Chang (MP for Batu), Dr Tan Seng Giaw (MP for Kepong), Ms Elizabeth Wong (ADUN for Bukit Lanjan), Puan Noor Hanim Ismail (ADUN for Seri Serdang) and Mr Sivarasa K. Rasiah (MP for Subang).
Concillors and officers from Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya Municipal Council, Subang Jaya Municipal Council and Putrajaya Corporation also attended the session.
They were invited as their areas were along the alignment of the SSP Line and their constituents would be affected by its construction work.
The session was held at the KVMRT Training Centre, Sungai Buloh and MRT Corp’s SSP Line Project Director Dato’ Amiruddin Ma’aris gave the project update briefing.
Amiruddin explained that the overall project progress completion was at 7.5%. He added at this figure would not have been possible had cooperation from various external parties including the MPs, ADUNS and local councils not be given during the initial construction phase of the project.
On the underground section of the alignment which was currently progressing at 8.7%, Amiruddin mentioned that eight tunnel boring machines (TBM) were currently being refurbished.These TBMs were used for the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang (SBK Line) and would be used for the SSP Line once was fully refurbished. Four of the TBMs were targeted to be launched for tunnelling works in the first quarter of next year. A total of 12 TBMs will be used to excavate the tunnels, with eight refurbished and four new ones being procured by the SSP Line Underground Works Contractor MMC Gamuda KVMRT (T) Sdn Bhd.
The group, joined by members of the media, then proceeded to visit a construction site at Prima Damansara. At the site, they were briefed by MMC-Gamuda KVMRT (PDP SSP) Sdn Bhd Construction Manager Mr Danny Tan and Sunway Construction Group Berhad Safety Manager Encik Ruslan Anwar.
Tan said the site had the first completed pier columns for the entire SSP Line and were now ready to support the elevated guideway.
The briefing ended with a press conference back at the training centre before everyone proceeding to lunch.
