30 delegates from Jabatan Kerja Raya Malaysia (JKR) went for a technical visit to the MRT Project site located in Bandar Malaysia on 3 April 2019.
The visit, led by JKR Design Department Senior Engineer Ir. Tuan Khusairry Tuan Abdul Manaf, was part of a three-day seminar entitled ‘Towards Advanced Technology & Material in Bridge Engineering’, organised by Ministry of Works Malaysia and The World Road Association (PIARC).
The seminar aimed to provide an occasion for cultivation and dispersion of knowledge and experience, on the advance technology and material in bridge engineering as well as contribute towards the overall advancement of bridge engineering.
Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) Underground Works Director, Blaise Mark Pearce welcomed the delegates to Bandar Malaysia North MRT Information Centre and gave a presentation about the construction of underground stations and associated structures.
He explained the tunnelling works and challenges that they had to face during the construction of the Sungai Buloh-Kajang (SBK) Line. He also spoke about the functions and features of Tunnel Boring Machines that were used for the SBK Line and currently being utilised for the Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya Line.
Upon the end of the presentation, the visitors proceeded for a walkabout of the site of the Bandar Malaysia North station including the viewing point.
The visit ended with an exchange of gifts followed by a group photo
