Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation (MRT Corp) on 9th March 2016 hosted visitors from the Japanese External Trade Organisation (JETRO) to the MRT Corp office.
Led by their Malaysian coordinator, Encik Isrami Ismail, 9 individuals from JETRO were greeted by MRT Corp Operations & Assets Management Director Encik Mahmood Abdul Razak and Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya Line Project Director Dato’ Amiruddin Ma’aris.
To begin proceedings, Mahmood introduced the Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line (SBK Line) to the attendees. He explained that the entire guideway for this line is completed and gave overall progress updates of the project.
The intention of the project was also underlined with Mahmood explaining the challenges that the project has faced since its initiation in 2011.
Upon the completion of Mahmood’s speech, some of the JETRO delegates gave a short presentation about the East-Japan Railway Company (JR-East).
Led by Mr Keisuke Kashimura, he explained the catchment that the company receives every day and also their processes of operations. One of the items explained was the fact that their Suica card, an equivalent to Malaysia’s Touch N Go, had multipurpose services linked to it.
Before ending their visit, JETRO representatives shared with MRT Corp their figures and graphical maps of their train service. The technological advancement that the Japanese presented was quite impressive.
The visit ended with MRT Corp presenting JETRO a memento as a gesture of their visit to MRT Corp’s office.
