REPRESENTATIVES from the Bangladesh and Indonesia missions in Malaysia visited the V202 AZSB Sdn Bhd Centralised Labour Quarters (CLQ) for the MRT Sungai Buloh- Serdang- Putrajaya Line at the Sungai Buloh CLQ on 26 April 2017.
The visit enabled Bangladesh Labour Counsellor Mr Sayedul Islam and Indonesian Transportation Attaché Captain Mochamad Abduh to see for themselves the standard of housing provided by Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) for workers involved in the construction of the MRT SSP Line.
Upon their arrival at the CLQ, Sayedul and Mochamad were greeted by MRT Corp Strategic Communications and Stakeholder Relations Director Dato’ Najmuddin Abdullah and MMC- Gamuda KVMRT (PDP) Sdn Bhd Public Relations and Stakeholder Management Head Encik Zamri Hassan.
MRT Corp Centralised Labour Quarters, Health, Safety, Security and Environment Head Encik Yusof Kasiron then gave a briefing about the CLQ initiative under the MRT Project.
Established in 2012, there were previously 11 CLQs for the MRT SBK Line whereas the MRT SSP Line will have 13 CLQs. Three of them will be located in Sungai Buloh, one in Cochrane whereas nine will be built in Serdang, to cater for the southern section of the MRT SSP Line alignment.
A tour of the CLQ was then given to the representatives. Led by MMC-Gamuda Centralised Labour Quarters General Manager Captain (R) Dr Mohd Fuad Omar and MRT Corp Standard and Compliance Director Tuan Syed Mahdhar Syed Hussain, they were shown the facilities and features of the CLQ. Top security measures such as facial and finger print scanning is required for anyone entering and leaving the CLQ.
The tour included the CLQ sick bay, several rooms occupied by workers, communal kitchen, and shower and toilet facilities.
Commenting on the facilities of the CLQ, Sayedul said that he was impressed with facilities provided by MRT Corp. He believed that comfortable living conditions that MRT Corp had provided would ensure that the productivity of the workers would be good.
The visit ended with the foreign representatives each receiving a plaque as a token of appreciation from MRT Corp for their visit to the CLQ.
