ANOTHER momentous date to remember transpired for the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Project on 8th December 2016, when the first fleet of feeder buses for the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang (SBK) Line were delivered to the Sungai Buloh Bus Depot.
The feeder buses for the MRT are manufactured by both SCANIA and VOLVO.
The day’s activity involved 10 Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd (Rapid Bus) Captains of whom were picked up from the Bus Depot in Sungai Buloh. They were then brought to SCOMI’s bus factory in Rawang.
Here, 10 buses were prepared for the bus captains to transport the buses back to the depot.
Rapid Bus is responsible for the operations of the MRT feeder buses.
Upon arrival at the bus depot, Encik Irwan Baharuddin from Rapid Bus, conducted an inspection of the buses to ensure that they were in perfect condition for operations.
These 10 buses are the first fleet of buses to be delivered and it will increase from time to time.
A total of 112 buses would be required to serve the 26 routes for the first phase of the MRT SBK Line.
