A dinner which enabled Deputy Finance Minister II, YB Tuan Mohd Shahar Abdullah to meet with the MRT Young Entrepreneur Program (MYEP) participants was organised by Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) on 6 August 2020 at Pullman Kuala Lumpur Bangsar.
The event was held to provide an opportunity for Mohd Shahar to learn about MYEP as well as get to know the participants. Seven participants for the First MYEP (MYEP I) and 17 from the second programme (MYEP II) attended the dinner.
Chief Executive Officer of Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Datuk Ir Ahmad ‘Asri Abdul Hamid and his counterpart from Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Berhad (PUNB), Encik Izwan Zainuddin were also present at the dinner, together with MMC-Gamuda KVMRT (PDP SSP) Sdn Bhd (MGJV) Director Dato’ Haji Azmi Mat Nor and the MRT Corp Leadership Team. CIDB, PUNB and MGJV were partners of MYEP where they provided the industrial and management trainings.
MRT Corp Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Mohd Zarif Hashim started the night’s programme with a speech where he shared the background of MYEP such as the history, objective and activities implemented. He ended his speech harbouring hope that a similar program for rail system development and spare parts will also be developed.
Mohd Shahar then went up on stage to express his appreciation on the success of MYEP and hoped that this could be emulated in other Government projects. He also shared how the Finance Ministry could assist the entrepreneurs especially on the financial front and urged the young generation to take advantage of what the Government was offering entrepreneurs.
A success story sharing session ensued where two participants from the two editions of MYEP shared their experiences. Encik Mohamad Syahmi Seliman from MSS Builders Sdn Bhd started the session and took the audience through his journey from attending MYEP to his working experience and the challenges he endured.
The session continued with Cik Ameiroht Zakaria from Global Hana Construction Sdn Bhd, who provided the background of how her company was built and lessons learnt upon venturing into the construction industry.
The dinner ended with a memento presentation from Datuk Mohd Zarif to Mohd Shahar and a group photography session with the distinguished guests and the MYEP participants.
