AS part of the 2^nd International Road Federation (IRF) Asia Regional Congress & Exhibition, Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) and MMC Gamuda KVMRT (T) Sdn Bhd (MGKT) hosted 22 delegates to the Cochrane Station on 20 October 2016.

This visit was part of a 4-day conference that was hosted by IRF and the Road Engineering Association of Malaysia from 16 October until 20 October 2016.

MRT Corp Sungai Buloh-Kajang (SBK) Line Project Director Mr Marcus Karakashian, briefed the delegates about the MRT Project. Amongst the topics that he touched on was that future users of the park and ride parking facility at MRT stations will be able to reap discounts if they use the MRT service.

With regard to the facilities for the MRT SBK Line, there are a total of 101 escalators installed at 7 underground stations for the SBK Line. Lifts and tactile pavements for the disabled are also available.

Upon the completion of Marcus’ speech, MGKT Senior Safety Supervisor (Cochrane) Mr Karunagaran Subramanin gave a short safety briefing about the safety requirements required prior to their walkabout of the station.

MRT Corp Underground Stations Director Mr Keith Allenby then led the delegation to a walkabout of the station. He and Marcus answered questions from the delegates during the activity.

At the end of the visit, HSS Engineering Sdn Bhd Senior Engineer Mr Low Kian Yung (acted as the liaison person for the exhibition) presented Marcus with a token of appreciation for the visit.
