Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) and Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 29 August 2022, in a collaboration that will propel the nation’s construction industry to a higher standard.
The ceremony, held at the World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur, was witnessed by Deputy Minister of Works, YB Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup with Chief Executive Officer Datuk Mohd Zarif Hashim and Chief Executive Datuk Ir Ahmad ‘Asri Abdul Hamid signing on behalf of MRT Corp and CIDB Malaysia, respectively.
The cooperation will see focus on three areas, which are in human capital development, construction which includes construction technology and in quality, safety and sustainable assessment tools. The coordinated effort by the two parties will ensure that Malaysia construction projects are managed and carried out according to the highest standards by competent and certified personnel.
This is the third collaboration between MRT Corp and CIDB Malaysia. The first two MRT lines saw a concentrated effort in making a significant change to safety standards. This time around, with the third MRT line – the MRT3 Circle Line, the parties have upped the ante by giving focus to new technologies such as Industrial Building Systems (IBS) and Building Information Modeling (BIM), as well as sustainable development.
