Ahmad Wazif, 7 years old, is a fan of Mass Rapid Transit (MRT). He is fascinated with trains and draw their pictures in his free time.
Wazif’s interest in MRT became more prevalent when he and his family began using the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line services to shuttle to Cheras for his chemotherapy treatments for leukemia for the past two years.
On 23 February 2019, Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) paid Wazif a visit by going to his house in Semenyih.
Dato’ Najmuddin Abdullah, MRT Corp Strategic Communications and Stakeholder Relations Director represented the organisation to spend time in getting acquainted with Wazif and his family. Wazif is the youngest child out of three siblings for the couple, Encik Mohd Amir Mohd Azir and Puan Sazrina Ramli.
During the visit, Wazif looked very happy and excited in receiving the guests especially upon accepting MRT souvenirs in the form of colouring activity book based on MRT trains and stations.
Dato’ Najmuddin also presented a photo frame with background of the MRT Project to Wazif as a gift as well as token of appreciation with the hope that it will inspire him to study hard and become an engineer in the future. The presence of MRT Corp was also hoped to instill passion and a fighting spirit in Wazif to combat his illness and compete with other children.
The visit was one of MRT Corp initiatives to appreciate and share happiness with MRT fans in addition to being concern with the plight of the unfortunate ones.
