FIVE subcontract work packages were awarded to five Bumiputera companies set up under the MRT Young Entrepreneurs Programme (MYEP II) on 3 April 2018.
They were selected through a ballot session that was held at the Ministry of Works office and witnessed by Minister of Works, Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah Yusof.
The MYEP II programme is a robust 12-month programme which includes a six-month intensive, professional construction industry training sessions by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), three-month management and motivation training course by Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Berhad (PUNB) and a three-month site attachment supervised by MMC-Gamuda KVMRT (PDP SSP) Sdn Bhd, the Project Delivery Partner for the MRT Sungai Buloh-Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP) Line.
At the end of the programme, 54 individuals graduated and formed 24 companies, obtaining their CIDB Grade G2 licenses.
Today’s ballot session for the five subcontract work packages was the start of various ballots that will be organised for the MYEP II graduates to receive their work packages for works for the SSP Line.
The total value of subcontracts that were awarded today was at a value of RM1.9 million.
In addition to that, 28 other work packages with a total value of RM13.62 million were also balloted for Bumiputera contractors for the SSP Line.
