MEMBERS of the public in the vicinity of Kepong were given the opportunity to learn more about the MRT Project when Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) participated in the ‘Program Kenduri 1Wilayah Persekutan Peringkat Parlimen Kepong 2018’ on 24 February 2018.
Held annually in February, this event was organised by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to celebrate Federal Territory Day that falls on 1 February.
MRT Corp was invited to the event held at Padang Bola Sepak Metro Prima Kepong, Kuala Lumpur as four stations of the MRT Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP) Line are located in Kepong.
The stations are Kepong Sentral, Metro Prima, Sri Delima and Jinjang.
A booth was set up showcasing the MRT SSP Line with information officers from both MRT Corp and MMC-Gamuda KVMRT (PDP SSP) Sdn Bhd, as the Project Delivery Partner for the project were on hand to disseminate information by entertaining enquiries as well as distributing brochures.
Besides providing information at the booth, MRT Corp had also engaged in several activities that enabled those who came to the booth to take home merchandises.
A short trivial quiz was organised for individuals to win MRT notebooks. To win, an individual had to answer a trivial question related to the project which answers can be found on the information boards at the booth.
In addition to that, the organiser had arranged a colouring contest where MRT Corp sponsored pens, notebooks and non-woven bags to be given to the participants.
Besides that, MRT Corp also contributed umbrellas and special edition stamp sets to winners of the lucky draw that was handles by the organiser.
Federal Territories Deputy Minister Senator Dato’ Dr Loga Bala Mohan officiated the event.
In his speech, he mentioned that the residents of Kepong are fortunate that the area of Kepong has 4 MRT Stations that are currently in their construction phase. This shows that the Government of Malaysia is ensuring efforts to improve the lives of individuals in this area.
