Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation (MRT Corp) hosted 200 students from Norway on 18 March 2013.
This is the first group of foreign students to visit the MRT Project. Previously, MRT Corp and its Project Delivery Partner MMC Gamuda KVMRT (PDP) Sdn Bhd have hosted many studentgroups from various local universities and institutes of higher learning.
The students from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, Norway, are in their third year masters programme , majoring in design in civil engineering.
The visit started at 2.00pm with a presentation by Encik Amir Mahmood Razak, MRT Corp’s Director of Strategic Communications and Public Relations. During the presentation, the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang alignment map and construction videos were shown to the students for them to understand the various aspects of the project.
Refreshment was then served after the presentation.
The delegation was later brought on a tour of the alignment, from Jalan Semantan to Sungai Buloh. The tour included the Sungai Buloh Depot where the trains will be stored when not in operation. They also had the chance to view the Centralised Labour Quarters in Sungai Buloh.
MRT Corp welcomes visits from students both local and foreign. While students get to learn about Malaysia’s largest infrastructure project, MRT Corp also gets to promote the project to future users of the MRT.
