A CEREMONY for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the enhancement of occupational safety and health (OSH) for the Klang Valley MRT Project was held at the KVMRT Training Centre at Sungai Buloh on 28 September 2015.
The MOU was signed by Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp), MMC Gamuda KVMRT (PDP SSP) Sdn Bhd, CIDB Holdings Sdn Bhd and the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).
MRT Corp and MMC Gamuda are the project owner and project delivery partner of the MRT Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya Line (SSP Line), the second line of the KVMRT Project, while CIDB Holdings and NIOSH will be assisting with the training modules.
The MOU was signed by MRT Corp Chief Executive Officer, Mr Dato’ Sri Shahril Mokhtar, MMC Gamuda Director Dato’ Azmi Mat Nor, CIDB Holdings Chief Executive Officer Sr Abdul Latif Hitam and NIOSH Executive Director Ir Rosli Hussin.
The signing was witnessed by Works Minister Dato’ Sri Fadillah Yusof and CIDB Holdings Chairman Dato’ Sri Prof Ir Dr Judin Abdul Karim.
Among the schemes to be introduced under the enhanced OSH training programme are the Safety Passport Scheme, Master Trainer Scheme and the Safety, Health and Environment Performance Assessment Scheme.
The training will be held at the KVMRT Training Centre which was officially launched by Fadillah after the signing ceremony. He signed a plaque to signify the official opening of the centre.
During the event, the minister and other visitors were brought on a tour of the exhibits and other facilities of the training centre. The exhibits included examples on the proper method of erecting scaffoldings, proper installation of safety barriers and proper storage of fuel.
Lunch was then served for the guests after the tour.
