STUDENTS from Universitas Negeri Padang, Indonesia visited the Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) Corporate Headquarters on 4 May 2017 to learn more about Human Resource operations.
The delegation led by Masters of Management Director Ibu Erni Masdupi was welcomed to the Perak Auditorium by Strategic Human Resource Director Encik Zainudin Ismail.
He started his presentation with a brief overview of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Project and explained that the MRT Project was established as part of the Economic Transformation Programme in Malaysia. There is a need for the MRT as the Klang Valley is projected to reach a population figure of 10 million people.
Upon sharing details about the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line and MRT Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya Line, he went on to discuss about the 4 strategic themes to achieve the MRT Key Performance Indicators (KPI), which are; effective project cost management; effective engagement with stakeholders; effective project management and operational excellence; and development of human capital.
In order to achieve the KPI, MRT Corp has incorporated various methods in the recruitment and selection process, where various background checks of prospective individuals were done such as ensuring that they are financially stable and will not harm any potential employees and company funds.
MRT Corp also has various retention strategies such as the remuneration packages and the new flexi benefits system.
Zainudin also talked about how work-life balance is practiced in this organisation, the training programme and facilities provided as well as the operations of manpower planning.
He ended his presentation by underlying the various employment schemes. Among them are the Young Engineer Scheme and Offset Engineers Programme.
