Eight delegates from Taiwan consisting of two organisations, Mass Rapid Transit Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government (KMRT) and Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation (KRTC) visited Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) for a knowledge sharing session on 8 August 2019.
They were joined by CECI Engineering Consultants Malaysia Sdn Bhd for the session which was held at MRT Corp Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur. The visit was aimed to learn from MRT Corp experience in the construction of the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang (SBK) Line in terms of system management and operations.
MRT Corp Planning and Design Assistant General Manager, Mr. Khoo Chee Min began the session with a welcoming remark, which was followed by an ice breaking session by each delegate and MRT Corp.
Mr Khoo then continued with a presentation on the Klang Valley MRT Project, starting with the Project structure and commercial opportunities, and ensued by an overview of the Project as well as its alignment criteria. Facts and figures, inclusive of the timeline, of the SBK Line and Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP) Line were also shared.
The presentation carried on with the challenges faced during the construction of SBK Line and how MRT Corp managed to overcome them, followed by the progress of the SSP Line and ended with the travel information and the fares of the SBK Line.
The delegates were immersed with the presentation and asked various questions to gain clarification and further understanding of the Project. They also shared their opinion and lesson learnt from their own experience, for an exchange of ideas.
A group photograph was taken at the MRT gallery to commemorate the day and to end the visit.
