CHIEF Executive Officer of the Performance Management Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department (Pemandu) Dato’ Sri Idris Jala visited the recently opened MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang (SBK) Line on 22 February 2017.
His programme included a visit to the line’s operations control centre which is located in the Sungai Buloh MRT Depot and a ride on the MRT train from the Sungai Buloh MRT Station to the Semantan Station.
Leading the tour was Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) Project Director SBK Line Mr Marcus Karakashian. He was also met by Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd Head of Operations MRT SBK Line Tuan Haji Azmi Mohd Zain.
Rapid Rail, a subsidiary of Prasarana Negara Bhd, is the operator of the SBK Line.
Joining him on his visit were his Director for NKRA Urban Public Transport and NKEA Greater Kuala Kumpur/Klang Valley Encik Ziad Hafiz Abdul Razak, Director for Programme Management Team Mr Nishan MPR Veera Kumar and other Pemandu officers.
Pemandu has played an instrumental role in the development of the Klang Valley MRT Project; which is one of the Entry Point Projects of the Greater Klang Lumpur/Klang Valley National Key Economic Area.
At the OCC, Jala was briefed on how the automatic train operations system worked and the safety features of the system. He was then taken to view the stabling yard at the depot.
The delegation then headed to the Sungai Buloh MRT Station, where Jala was shown how the station was integrated with the Keretapi Tanah Melayu services. Passengers transferring from one service to another were now able to do so easily via a common concourse.
He then boarded an MRT train and headed to the Semantan Station. Throughout the journey, Karakashian explained to Jala the various features and interesting landmarks along the way.
The visit ended at the Semantan Station where the delegation took a group photograph and each member was presented with a souvenir goodie bag.
