IN conjunction with World Quality Day 2017 on 9 November 2017, Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) together with the Project Delivery Partner (PDP) for the MRT Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP) Line MMC-Gamuda KVMRT (PDP SSP) Sdn Bhd (MMC-Gamuda) officially launched the ‘Industrial Collaboration Programme (ICP) Economic Enhancement Programme (EEP) Capability Development Programme for Concrete Quality’.
MRT Corp Standard and Compliance Director Tuan Syed Mahdhar Syed Hussain launched the programme at the KVMRT Sungai Buloh Training Centre.
This programme is aimed to educate MRT Corp, PDP and Work Package Contractors (WPCs) about the high quality of concrete that is required when delivering the project.
Delivering his speech at the event, Syed mentioned that with the Government envisioning that by 2030 the Malaysian Rail Industry will be a strong and sustainable business, MRT Corp together with PDP and the respective WPCs would need to live up to the standards.
This programme will be able to assist the attendees in having a better understanding of concrete amongst others.
Ten training modules spanning a period of three years will be in place and will be conducted by IMM-Soil Sdn Bhd. This organisation had previously done consulting work for the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line and understands the expectation and requirement that is needed for the project.
MMC-Gamuda SSP Line Project Director Mr Param Sivalingam reiterated PDP’s support to ensure that the training sessions are conducted smoothly. He also reiterated that having a high quality of concrete would be vital in the project’s lifeline.
Another speaker, MMC-Gamuda Quality Head Dr Yeap Ming Keong talked about the benefits the individuals will gain from going through the programme.
At the end of the opening ceremony, WPCs were presented with Site Management Safety Training Scheme booklets as a guide for them to educate their employees about safety at work sites.
