Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) achieved another milestone for the MRT Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP) Line Project when it received the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System (EMS) certification.
The certificate was handed over by SIRIM QAS International Sdn Bhd in a ceremony held on 12 February 2020 at the MRT Corp Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.
SIRIM QAS was the appointed auditor for the certification where it conducted two stages of certification audit on 31 October 2019 and 27 to 29 November 2019 respectively.
The exercise was to determine the conformity of MRT Corp to ISO 14001:2015 standard requirements, the ability of the management system to ensure compliance towards applicable statutory regulatory and contractual requirements, the effectiveness of the management system in order to ensure its specified objectives are achieved and identified any areas that are potential for management system improvement.
The scope of certification was on project management and supervision of mass rapid railway infrastructure including procurement, planning, design, construction, testing & commissioning and handover of the SSP Line.
The handover ceremony saw SIRIM QAS Chief Executive Officer, Encik Mohd Azanuddin Saleh, presenting the certificate to MRT Corp Chief Executive Officer, Encik Abdul Yazid Kassim and witnessed by MRT Corp Leadership Team as well as representatives from MRT Corp and SIRIM QAS.
In the ceremony, Encik Mohd Azanuddin congratulated MRT Corp on the achievement and wished for it to continue the effort and ensure continual improvement, not only on EMS implementation but also on Quality Management System (QMS) and other future management system.
MRT Corp had achieved its re-certification of ISO 9001:2015 QMS on 22 October 2019, an accreditation that the organisation has held since 2016.
