IN line with Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) Corporate Social Responsibility of ensuring that the welfare of people along the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang (SBK) Line alignment is being taken care of, the organisation constructed a recreational park in Kampung Selamat.
The park, called Taman Linear Kampung Selamat, is located next to the Kampung Selamat MRT Station.
A simple ceremony marking the handing over of the park to the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) was held on 27 January 2018. With the handover, MBPJ will now officially be responsible for the ownership and maintenance of the park.
The 600-square-metre park is located on reserve land owned by Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd was used as a construction site for the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang (SBK) Line.
Collaborative efforts by SYABAS, Eco Collaboration Sdn Bhd as the consultant of the park, MBPJ and MRT Corp made this park possible.
Amongst the individuals that attended the ceremony were MRT Corp Strategic Communications and Stakeholder Relations Director Dato’ Najmuddin Abdullah, MMC-Gamuda KVMRT (PDP) Sdn Bhd Deputy Project Director MRT SBK Line Encik Maslan Othman, MBPJ Landscaping Head Puan Zuraidah Sainan, SYABAS Distribution Operations Deputy Head Encik Yusof Saroji and Eco Design Collaboration Sdn Bhd Director Encik Fatthullah Mohd Nor.
Speaking at the ceremony, Kampung Selamat representative Encik Ramli Yahya said that he was hopeful that the park will be beneficial for those staying in the area.
“The initiative that MRT Corp had presented to our community is invaluable and that this park will not only act as a park for those to exercise, but also a walkway to get to the station.”
As a Government funded organisation, MRT Corp aims to give back to communities along the alignment of the MRT Project.
