The final electric train set for MRT Putrajaya (PY) Line was successfully delivered to the Serdang MRT Depot on 20 November 2021.
The 49th train set, which consisted of four cars, was loaded on four trailers the night before at the train assembly plant at Rasa, Hulu Selangor. The trailers then travelled in a convoy to the depot in Serdang, Selangor.
A ceremony was held to commemorate this significant milestone for the MRT Project, which also marks the completion of an Industrial Collaboration Program (ICP) Initiative: Electric Train Localisation, a joint effort between Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) and Technology Depository Agency Berhad. (TDA)
Present during the ceremony were Ministry of Finance’s Principal Assistant Secretary to the Government Procurement Division, cum Head of Offset and Technology Transfer Yang Mulia Raja Khairul Anuar Raja Abd. Karim; MRT Corp Chief Executive Officer Datuk Mohd Zarif Hashim; MRT Corp Chief Financial Officer Encik Shahrul Fadli Omar; and TDA Berhad Chief Executive Officer Dr. Sharoul Jambari.
During the ceremony, Raja Khairul Anuar was invited up onstage to push the start button, which led the final car being unloaded from the trailer and later coupled with the rest of the three cars to complete the 49th electric train, which signifies the successful delivery of the final electric train for MRT PY Line. He was accompanied by Datuk Mohd Zarif and Dr. Sharoul.
The event also celebrated the successful completion of the ICP initiative under Work Package Electric Train & Depot Equipment (SY203) between Work Package Contractor, Hyundai-Rotem Company – Apex Communication – Posco Engineering (HAP) Consortium and SMH Rail Sdn Bhd as the ICP recipient.
Under the MRT PY Line ICP, a total of RM7 billion ICP credit value will be generated through 121 initatives. A sum of RM2.6 billion localisation value or subcontract works have been created under this programme, while the investment amounted to almost RM80 million. Malaysian companies were able to gain access to the international market through this ICP initiatives worth RM88.3 million.
At the same time, MRT Project ICP has benefited more than 300 local companies and provided opportunity to more than 4,200 indviduals to expand their knowledge and ability through the human resource development training programme.
