A delegation from the Ministry of Planning, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh visited Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation (MRT Corp) Sdn Bhd on 20 February 2019.
The half-day visit was held at MRT Corp Headquarters and organised by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia through its UTMSpace programme as part of a study tour on Need Assessment of the Organisation for Infrastructure Development in Monitoring and Evaluation.
The objectives of the tour were to learn about public project monitoring and evaluation systems and processes, understand change management and capacity building approach
The delegates were members of the Ministry’s Infrastructure Monitoring and Evaluation Division and comprised of Central Procurement Technical Unit Director (Deputy Secretary) Mr. Shish Haider Chowdhury, Deputy Secretary Ms. Hazera Khatun and Deputy Director (Senior Assistant Secretary) Ms. Sifat E. Jahan.
MRT Corp was led by Deputy General Manager of Programme and Planning Encik Mohamad Yusof Karim, supported by Quality Assurance General Manager Ir. Zulkifli Mohamed, Contract Management General Manager Sr. Azita Mohamed Tahir, Information Technology Deputy General Manager Encik Maz Mirza Mohd Aminurashid, and Procurement Assistant General Manager Encik Hasnul Alfian.
Encik Yusof gave the first presentation which started with the project progress updates of Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP) Line and the challenges faced previously for the completed Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line. He then continued with the digital engineering programme methods used for the SSP Line project such as the 3D laser scanning programme for Building Information Modelling Model Validation.
The session continued with a presentation by Ir. Zulkifli, who shared in detailed, the functionalities and scope of the Document Control Centre (DCC) in MRT Corp. Throughout his presentation, Ir. Zulkifli touched about the Electronic Document Management System interface and management as well as its verification, validation, initiation, planning and execution phases until completion.
A Q&A session ensued where Mr. Shish Haider mentioned how impress they were to know that MRT Corp has a dedicated DCC to ensure smooth flow of documentation. During this session, Cik Azita, Encik Maz and Encik Hasnul shared their experiences gained throughout the Project for the benefit of the delegates.
The visit ended with a tour of the MRT Gallery where the delegates had the opportunity to view a mock-up of the MRT train interior and a scale model of the MRT Project.
