A Risk Management Webinar 2021 was organised by Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) on 2 December 2021, with the aim to promote risk awareness culture within the organisation and foster learning from experienced risk professionals from various industries.
With the theme Living Through the Endemic Phase: How to Be Resilient, the webinar brought together a panel of expert speakers for an engaging discussion on how companies can respond and build a systematic resilience approach in the unprecedented global endemic due to COVID-19.
Encik Azhar Sofah, MRT Corp Acting Head of Standard and Compliance delivered the welcome address at the beginning of the webinar which saw the attendance of 150 participants.
The webinar commenced with a presentation by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arpah Abu Bakar, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Director, AACSB Accreditation Unit, UUM College of Business. She, who was also an Associate Professor, College of Business and Senior Research Fellow at UUM Institute of Risk Management, presented on the topic, Sustainable Organization from The Lens of a Resilient Society.
The second speaker was Puan Sarazin Sheikh Mustafa, Director of Risk Management and Compliance from Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) who spoke on Managing Risk in The Endemic Phase.
Encik Mohd Nazlan Eza Mohd Jamzari Wasi, Head of Business Continuity Management at UMW Corporation, was the final speaker and shared his insight and experience on Looking Back, Current Trends, And Moving Forward.
The speakers subsequently joined a question and answer session which saw a number of questions from the enthusiastic participants. The webinar also featured Fun Quizzes to make it more engaging, fun as well as to test the participants’ understanding and knowledge of the topics. Ten participants with the highest scores walked away with RM50 worth of F&B Cash Vouchers.
The webinar ended with the announcement of the Best Risk Practitioner Award which saw the Electrical & Mechanical Systems Department emerge as the winner. Encik Azhar presented the award to the department representative, Ir Shahir Azhan Mohamed Hamzah, who received RM500 worth of F&B voucher.
The Best Practitioner Award was determined based on the following criteria;
(1) Implement, maintain and coordinate the Operational Risk Management activities in their respective Departments;
(2) Ensuring support for the managerial oversight of the delivery of operational risk targets and key result areas;
(3) Establish and sustain risk management partnerships;
(4) Monitor, review and continually improve risk management activities and processes within their respective department or organisations and
(5) Ensure the implementation of risk management activities is in line with the established MRT Corp’s risk management framework.
MRT Corp will continue to strengthen its risk management practices to ensure the organisation is equipped to face any challenges in the future especially during uncertain times.
