In an effort to further support the Government’s vision for a corruption-free governance in the country, Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) met Governance, Integrity and Anti-Corruption Centre (GIACC) in Putrajaya on 28 February 2019.
The delegation, consisted of members from MRT Corp Board of Directors and Leadership Team, was led by Chief Executive Officer Encik Abdul Yazid Kassim for a meeting with GIACC Director General Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed.
The objective of the meeting was to ensure MRT Corp’s commitment towards the National Anti-Corruption Plan (NACP) 2019-2023, which was launched by Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad in January 2019.
During the meeting, Abu Kassim commended MRT Corp for being the first government-owned company to engage with the GIACC on the NACP initiatives, and its commitment to act in accordance with GIACC’s National Anti-Corruption Plan 2019-2023.
He hoped that more agencies and companies will follow suit, and start taking the initiative in complying with the NACP in order to achieve the vision of a Malaysia Baharu that is governed with integrity, transparency and a high code of conduct.
NACP consists of 115 anti-corruption initiatives to combat corruption, including underlining the limits of authority in an effort to separate the Government administration from political influence.
Under Strategy 6 of NACP (Inculcating Good Governance in Corporate Entity), ten initiatives will need to be carried out by MRT Corp as a Corporate Entity in order to combat bribery within the organisation.
MRT Corp had developed Integrity Plan 2019 which was acknowledged by GIACC as having covered many of the initiatives. GIACC also recommended others to be included such as Corruption Risk Management and Scenario Planning as well as giving importance to Corporate Liability and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
Since its inception, MRT Corp had always complied with integrity initiatives and Integrity Auditing has always been done in accordance with the ISO37001:2016 Anti Bribery Management Systems.
In addition, MRT Corp has always made it a priority to ensure that all its employees adhered to all policies and procedures.
