Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) had organised a fifth balloting session to award the MRT Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP) Line contracts to Bumiputera contractors at  Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) on 5 October 2017.

Eight contracts with a total value of RM2 million were balloted during the session, of which six of the eight contracts awarded were for the underground section while the remaining two were for elevated.

A total of 404 contractors from Grade 1 to Grade 3 categories were shortlisted for the awards.

The ballot was carried out by Malay Contractors Association of Malaysia (PKMM) President Dato’ Haji Mokhtar Samad, Persatuan Kontraktor Bumiputera Kelas ‘F’ Malaysia (PERKOBF Malaysia) President Encik Tukiman Radion, Bumiputera Contractors Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia General Manager Encik Nazli  Ahmad Mahyadin, Contractor and Entrepreneur Development Division of Works Ministry (BPKU) Principal Assistant Secretary Encik Hamidon Sajari and Bumiputera Agenda Steering Unit of Prime Minister’s Office (TERAJU) representative Puan Farisyah Fahmi Mohd Ibrahim.

The balloting session to select the Bumiputera contractors for the SSP Line will continue until the handover of the line which is expected to be in 2022.
