IN cooperation with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation (MRT Corp) Sdn Bhd held a Corruption Free Pledge Programme on 6 October 2017 at the MATRADE Exhibition and Convention Centre (MECC).
The event began with an executive talk by MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Operations), Dato’ Sri Hj Azam Baki who shared corruption issues happening in the public and private sectors in Malaysia.
Upon the arrival of MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad accompanied by MRT Corp Board of Directors, Negaraku was played followed by prayer recitation.
Other attendees include the MRT Corp Leadership Team and all employees of MRT Corp.
MRT Corp Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Sri Shahril Mokhtar delivered an opening speech to welcome all attendees to the event.
He stated that it is the company’s responsibility to guide, give advice and remind all members of MRT Corp to not get involve in corruption, abuse of power and irregularities to avoid negative image to the company.
Tan Sri Dzulkifli then took centre stage to deliver his speech.
He mentioned that the pledge was an initiative started by MACC to curb corruption problem that were happening in Malaysia.
He also congratulated MRT Corp on the company’s implementation of anti-corruption initiatives.
As proof of MRT Corp’s commitment to combat corruption, its employees and Board of Directors, led by Shahril, pledged among others, to reject all forms of corruption and abuse of power and not indulge in any act of corruption and abuse of power in any dealings concerning MRT Corp.
They also pledged to give their full cooperation to MACC in preventing corruption and abuse of power.
The signing of the pledge ensued with the first being the Board of Directors followed by the Leadership Team. Both were witnessed by Dzulkifli and Azam.
537 application forms were also handed over from MRT Corp to MACC.
The forms filled up by MRT Corp employees were for the Sahabat Gerakan Revolusi Anti Rasuah (GERAH) SPRM which is the catalyst for change in society to reject and hate corruption and abuse of power.
The ceremony ended with hi-tea served for all attendees of the ceremony.
