IN conjunction with the beginning of operations for the first phase of the Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line (SBK Line) in December 2016, Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation (MRT Corp) recently hosted a delegation from the Ministry of Finance (MOF), General Implementation Coordination Unit Prime Minister’s Department (ICU JPM), DanaInfra Nasional Berhad and Prokhas Sdn Bhd to the Semantan station on 3rd March 2016.
The 25 strong delegation was led by Datuk Seri Ahmad Zaki Ansore, ICU JPM, Director General.
Before the visit commenced, Mr Nor Hadi Kasah, from the Health, Safety, Security and Environment department gave a short briefing to the attendees about the safety precautionary methods that needed to be abided to. This was regarding to the MRT office setting and also the Semantan station site.
MRT Corp Sungai Buloh Kajang Line (SBK Line) Project Director Mr Marcus Karakashian then introduced the SBK Line to the attendees. He explained that the entire guideway for this line is completed. Overall progress of the project at 79.85% was also mentioned and that 94km out of 107km of train tracks had been completed.
Upon the completion of Marcus’ speech, Dato’ Amiruddin Ma’aris, MRT Corp Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya Line (SSP Line) Project Director introduced the second line that is under the MRT Corp Project. He explained the integration of the SSP Line to the SBK Line and reiterated that there will be an estimated higher number of users for this line compared to the SBK Line. The SBK Line is projected to reach a daily catchment of 400,000 whereas the SSP Line is to reach a catchment of 533,000.
After the conclusion of the speeches, the delegates were led by Marcus to the Semantan station to show the progress of an elevated station. Datuk Seri Ahmad Zaki was pleased with the progress the Project has made.
