IN conjunction with International Women’s Day on 8 March 2017, the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD), organised a meet and greet session with the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department YB Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri.
Held at the Pusat Bandar Damansara MRT Station on 7 March 2017, this session was titled ‘Choosing LPT As A Career: Meet The Women Who Move Your World.’ She discussed about various topics such as how more women are being involved in the public transportation industry.
The attendees from the day included women from Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp), Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad, SPAD, Express Rail Link (ERL) and Syarikat Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana).
Nancy was also joined by ERL Chief Executive Officer Puan Noormah Mohd Noor and Prasarana Rail and Infrastructure Projects Head YB Datin Hajah Norlia Noah.
The session was moderated by RTM 1 Selamat Pagi Malaysia host, Ms Tasneem Faisal.
Nancy was quoted saying to the women only audience that, “women should not compete against men, but instead improve our capabilities.” This was said in reference to more women being employed by Land Public Transport organisations.
The session ended with the attendees boarding the MRT train and taking a return trip from Pusat Bandar Damansara to Mutiara Damansara station.
